Iron Sight Electric is what your business is looking for when searching for an electrician Fullerton CA and the surrounding areas
Iron Sight Electric started out as a dream that became a reality for me. Before I founded Iron Sight Electric, I started my career doing electrical for a custom pool company, in Temecula, CA. At the time, it was a fun job, that kept me outdoors, which is where I love to be. I was glad that it wasn’t in an office job, that would keep me in a cubicle all day. However, the pool job only lasted about two year because it was right before all the banks finally caught up to all the homeowners that were refinancing their homes and getting pools, RVs, Boats and every other midlife crisis toy. At this point in my life, I wanted to know more about becoming an electrician, than just running conduit and pulling wire. I wanted to learn more about the theory behind it. So, I joined the Union IBEW Local 11. There was a little waiting period to become an apprentice but I was able to start with a company as a material handler through a program that was called the summer helper program. This program was actually a blessing from God, as I did not really have much money as I was living on my own in Fullerton CA. But what I did have was the will and drive to learn everything that I could for my future. Learning electrical became my passion. I wanted to know everything that was needed to become an electrician, the materials and what they were used for, the tools and what purpose they served. I remember my first day like it was yesterday, my boss asked me “kid what do you know” like a deer in headlights I simply told him the truth, “I don’t know anything and I don’t know much about tools or machinery either, but I’m here and I want to learn, so I can be the best electrician I can be”. He froze for a minute and said, “you know no one has ever said that to me, with all honesty I usually have to find out later that someone doesn’t really know anything and at that time it’s a little late and ruins the trust or even a job.” From then on, I was given every opportunity to learn the trade to its fullest, from itemizing materials so I can physically see and put a picture to the name of the materials, to the vast and always evolving tools that help progress the trade to its fullest. This was a huge help to me knowing what the materials and tools looked like and what they were used for out in the field or job site. During the time I spent as a summer helper I learned how to prefab materials to speed up time and efficiency out in the field aka job site. I was also given the opportunity to learn how to weld and fabricate temporary power skids. This was a skill that would greatly benefit me later on in my Career. Finally the day had come, the phone rang and I got the call that I was accepted in to the IBEW Local 11 Apprenticeship. So then, I began my 5 year journey as an IBEW Local 11 Apprentice. If I’m honest, I was kind of scared, I was sent out into the field aka job site straight away. But knowing that I didn’t have much money the guys in the shop pulled together and bought me my first set of tool bags and all my required tools to step foot on the job site. This brought me to tears and the guys also, because they truly knew how appreciative I was that they did this for me and I have never forgotten about it to this day.
At the beginning it seemed like 5 years is going to take forever for me, working 8 hours or more and I was going to school at night and Weekends. But in those 5 years, I helped build many hospitals, such as Kaiser Permanente South bay, Cedar Sinai, Torrance Memorial and more. As well as Gilead Medical research facility, Ports of Long Beach, Refineries, Banks and retail stores to name a few. Higher education building, tilt up buildings, electrical sub stations, Airports, breweries, factories, The Metropolitan water district, and the list goes on. So fast forward, I was a 5-year apprentice on a job with a foreman that was super stressed, with a job that was under manned with strict deadlines. I saw my opportunity, I asked him to make me a foreman and let me finish the job. The next few days I kept asking for the “go ahead” until I finally got it. Shortly after the superintendent asked me if I was the person who wanted to be foreman. From that day on on I was running big jobs large crews and thought this was it, but in the back of my head it wasn’t. There was always the “why not be your own boss, start your own company”, it wasn’t until I was given a job as quality control I was given a crew to go around and make sure that every room on a job was completed 100 percent with zero shortcuts and up to all standards. This is when it finally hit me that it was time to create my own company and always have the standards that are lacking in today’s work ethics. Therefore, it made sense to start my company in the same place where I was born Fullerton California, so being an electrician Fullerton CA is where I started as well as serving the surrounding areas.
